Since January 2011 I’ve been curating Creative Splurges, a blog for anything I’d created in my spare time, be it videos, photos, writing, or anything else that I’d made.

When I started the blog, I’d assumed there would be roughly equal weighting to photos and videos, but over time it has become increasingly apparent that Creative Splurges is predominantly a photography-based blog. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

When it comes to posting on Splurges, my posts are generally quite in-depth; they feature multiple images taken on a trip or occasion, with often detailed explanations of how the photo came to be, what I was intending when I shot it, and how I think it turned out. There’s nothing wrong with that either.

However, I do sometimes feel that by putting multiple images into a post, especially alongside similar images from the same location, their individual impact can be lost.

This is where Creative Splurges Daily Photo steps in. The purpose of this blog is simple: every day, in no particular order or structure, it will feature a new photo of mine, just to give you something nice to look at (therefore, no self-portraits).

Unlike Creative Splurges, which is a more general blog also built for text and other media, the design of this blog is all about the photograph. The images sit proudly front-and-centre, with a small description underneath. More importantly, because there is just one image a post, one post a day, and little gumf in the design of the blog, there is nothing to distract you from the image itself.

If you like what you see here, then please head on over to Creative Splurges where you can follow my trials and experiments with a camera. Otherwise, enjoy what you see, and get involved – I love to read comments, good or bad; it is, after all, the only way I’ll learn.

Cheers,

Rob
